Guest Blog: Beata Heuman

MARCH 2019

Earlier this season we caught up with Beata Heuman and her team to host an exclusive preview of our new SS19 collections. Awarded House & Garden's 'Interior Designer of the Year' in 2018, she is known for her playful and upbeat work so we were very excited to find out her thoughts on our new collections...

"The whole collection has a really light and uplifting feel about it and I very much like the faded grandeur found in the La Rotonda and Foscari Fresco design to name a couple. I was also particularly drawn to the new John Derian collection - I have always been a massive fan of his work as while obviously being inspired by the past he has also managed to create a look very particular to him that feels modern and current. I hope to use his fabrics in our work this year to interject some of that graphic, classical boldness he does so well."

Beata's Edit:

1. This faded stripe would look lovely as a slipcover or huge cosy cushion in a summer house.

2. Such a pretty Brocade - I’m imagining an old Venetian palazzo half sunken into the Grand Canal and some old lady smoking a cigarillo reclining on a chaise lounge covered in this.

3. This fabric reminds me of chic Chanel Suit from the 50s. I’m fond of using materials on furniture which look like they could be used for clothes.

4. This is such a whimsical arrangement and a very cool design!

5. This robust stripe would look good in so many places, it would work really well in a more formal setting to make sure things don’t get too fancy, like something straight out of the chicest homes in Tangier.

6. Rose Mosaic is my favourite design, it would look fantastic on a big upholstered piece such as a sofa and I love that it looks like it could be part of a stage set.

(For info - this moodboard shows Beata's favourite fabrics and is her edit of the new collections and not an interior scheme)
